How to prepare for CFAT (Canadian Forces Aptitude Test)
There is a lot of debate as to the best form of CFAT Preparation (Canadian Forces Aptitude Test). Some suggest that the test is just like many other aptitude type tests and no specific training preparation is required. As many candidates come from different educational backgrounds and carry with them different types of experiences, it is often suggested that some kind of preparation take place in order to decrease risk of failing the CFAT.
There are 3 main aspects of the CFAT that candidates need to prepare for:
Even if you are avid english speaker with english as your first language there are some steps you need to take in order to prepare yourself for the CFAT Verbal portion of the exam. The verbal section deals with the candidates ability to understand words and communicate effectively. It is important to read books and different types of literature to expand your vocabulary. The CFAT Training site provides specific instructions on how to better prepare for this area of the exam.
- Problem Solving
Problem solving can be a tough area of the CFAT. Depending on your level of knowledge and exposure this portion of the test can be challenging. Fortunately, this area of the exam is the most straight forward with respect to preparation. By doing more and more practice type questions, you knowledge and experience will grow, and the speed to which you respond to questions will increase. Answering questions quickly provides you with more time to look at more difficult questions.
The Spatial ability test looks at your ability to recognize patterns and forms. Similar to the problem solving test, the spatial ability test can easily be mastered by doing a lot of practice questions. The CFAT is designed as an aptitude test so increasing your experience and exposure to any area of the above mentioned sections will increase your chances of passing.
